The University of Cape Town (UCT) has partially measured water volume usage across its campuses. Evidence exists that UCT monitors potable water consumption from mains supply and implements reduction strategies: for example, its published “Environmental Sustainability” update (September 2024) reports that UCT installed low-flow toilets, showerheads and taps in 15 residences, and is constructing an onsite recycled sewage-water treatment plant adjacent to Kopano residence.
As such, UCT demonstrates a measurement process in part, but this falls short of full volumetric measurement across all supply sources.
