UCT established the University Panel for Responsible Investment (UPRI) committee in 2017 as a formal university committee that sets policy and advises the university on responsible investment matters related to UCT’s endowment fund.

UPRI also has the responsibility of engaging various UCT stakeholders on matters relating to responsible investment, that will be considered in how it shapes university policy on responsible investment.

UPRI believes that its work and ability to engage meaningfully with the broader UCT community requires a degree of transparency and disclosure from the UCT endowment regarding its investments. To achieve this, UPRI continues to have a serious and urgent dialogue on the matter with the appropriate parties.
